FILE FORMATS

According to Wikipedia, File format is a standard way that information is encoded for storage in a computer file. It can be a file for photos, movies & audios.

Common for Photos:

Joint Photographic Expert group (JPEG)

Graphic Interchange Format (GIF)

Portable Network Group (PNG)

Photoshop Document (PSD)


Common for Movies:

MOV
MP4
MPEG
WMV

Common for Audios:

MP3
WAV
WMA
OGG
DVF

Raster Images- made up of pixels, each different color, arranged to display an image.

Vector Images- made up of curves and paths; with a mathematical formula (vector) that tells that path its shape and color.
