Typography

Typography, from the Greek words Typos meaning form and Graphe meaning writing. This is a writing technique of arranging type to make words or language visible. There are different terms in typography;

Typeface- e.g Arial

  • Serif- it is the small finishing stroke on the arms, stems and tails of the characters.
  • Sans Serif (without serif)- typefaces that has uniform stroke.
Font- e.g Arial Bold 12
Leading (Line Height)- in typography it refers to the distance between the lines.
Kerning- spaces between characters.
Tracking (Letter Spacing)- consistent spacing between the letters.
